Job Description

Provides assessment of substance use problems, creates and monitors individualized treatment plans, provides individual sessions, maintain required documentation, facilitate coordination of treatment services according to treatment plans and develop transition and discharge plans with client. Facilitate and ensure 12 core functions of alcohol and drug counselor. Maintain compliance with DHS, Joint Commission and Department regulations. Works well with patients 18 years and older who have symptoms of substance use and or mental health illnesses. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Completion of an associate degree, or an equivalent number of credit hours Completed 880 clock hours of supervised alcohol and drug counseling practicum Experience: none required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to demonstrate an understanding and skill of the 12 core functioning of substance use counseling with clients. Licensure/Registration/Certification: Alcohol and Drug Counselor – Temporary License (ADC-T) through the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health, BBHT. Must comply with MN BBHT requirements to maintain temporary permit, and use the title Alcohol and Drug Counselor –Trainee or letters ADC-T in all professional activities. Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured to drive via Regions Hospital standards and policies. Must not have had a felony conviction or have been incarcerated as a result of a felony conviction in the last three years. Must be free of substance use problems for a period of two years immediately preceding employment. Must have successfully completed a background study in accordance Minnesota DHS requirements. Additional Information: Following meeting to address staffing issues, recruiment, retention, how it relates to census and its direct impact on finance, a decision made for position.
