Job Description

The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position. A professional Registered Nurse, with IBCLC certification who is responsible for the coordination, planning, and management of patient, family and staff education, quality measures, and hands on care related to breastfeeding for MMCN. Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience/Skills Requirements Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Alabama State Board of Nursing. IBCLC Certification (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) Current BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications. Knowledgeable and skilled in physiology and clinical management of breastfeeding. Knowledge of breastfeeding care and educational principles practices, procedures and techniques required to assess learning needs, develop an educational plan and teach/counsel patients, families and clinical staff.
