Job Description
Functioning within the Hospital’s mission, values, objectives, and policies and procedures the Radiation Therapist performs therapy procedures. Having documented competency and with the direction and delegation of a radiation oncologist, may perform the following tasks and treatments: administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards; position patients for treatment according to the prescription; conduct most treatment sessions independently in accordance with the long-term treatment plan; maintain detailed therapy chart; and perform some dosimetry using Rad Calc System. The Radiotherapist also serves as a liaison between the physician and supportive care personnel; prepares equipment including immobilization, treatment, and protective devices; assists with scheduling patients; provides protection for patients and self according to prescribed safety standards; and performs daily warm up and checks weekly output of linear accelerator as requested by the physician.
Education:Graduate of the AMA accredited Radiography Technology program or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Certified by the Ohio Department of Health. Current BLS required. Valid driver’s license required to travel to different off-site assignments if needed.

Experience: PreviousRadiation Therapy experience is preferred.
Skills:Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to exhibit patience and tact in dealing with ill patients and demonstrate a courteous and respectful demeanor with associates, physicians and patients Must also work with speed and proficiency while under stress; show flexibility with work schedule changes; and be collaborative and cooperative with all stakeholders.
