What You’ll Do
The Certified Surgical First Assistant is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The successful candidate will be able to:
Assist in preparation of surgical suite and in completion of department tasks
Understand and incorporate infection control practices
Understand and employ foundational knowledge of surgical procedures and surgical conscience
Demonstrate personal growth by seeking out and incorporating emerging best practices and technologies
Actively participate in the surgical Time Out process per policy
Anticipate needs of surgeon and provide assistance as appropriate
Perform surgical prep per surgeon’s directive
Perform closure of subcutaneous and skin layers per surgeon’s directive
Demonstrate maturity and accountability for job performance
Support facility mission, values, and philosophy
Assist in meeting objectives and goals of the department
What You’ll Bring
Graduate of an accredited surgical assist program
Minimum of 2+ years’ experience as a Certified Scrub Tech
Current valid CST
National Surgical First Assist Certification (CSFA)
Current BLS certification
Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately
Good interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service skills
Strong organizational, problem-solving and follow-through skills
Ability to multi-task constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions
Ability to perform work when no directions are given, and give directions to others
Remain flexible, organized, professional and able to analyze, make sound decisions under stressful or crisis situations
Demonstrate knowledge of current computer systems, equipment or programs used in the organization, knowledge of Epic a plus!
