Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
The licensed psychologist is responsible for the delivery of services as well as supervision of other clinicians and/or interns. Persons in this position provide testing services outpatient and other programs of the hospital. In addition, he/she provides individual, family and group therapy services in the Behavioral Health Services Department. Services may be provided in a variety of settings within and/or outside of the hospital.
Position is short-term temporary, expected to last approximately 3 months.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Doctoral degree from an accredited graduate school
License to practice psychology in the Commonwealth
Qualified to perform psychological testing with children, adolescents and adults
At least two to three years of experience in mental health with children, adolescents and adults (which may include pre- and postdoctoral internships)
At least two to three years of experience providing psychological testing
Experience with school systems, 766 regulations and IEP process strongly preferred
Experience in dealing with focus outcome oriented treatment
Preference given to those with program management, grant development, service development or service reorganization experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Analytic abilities consistent with delivery of comprehensive psychological test reports including an understanding of trait, skill and behavioral distribution patterns.
An understanding of reliability, validity, test construction and norming, as well as statistical and clinical significance.
An understanding of the concepts of test construction, as well as the current range of available test instruments.
A knowledge of developmental issues and milestones throughout the lifespan.
Verbal and written communication skills consistent with delivery of evaluations and presentations inside the Department and to relevant referral sources (e.g. schools, families, agencies and attorneys).
Interpersonal and leadership skills consistent with effective dissemination of consultation results and integration into treatment and school plans.
Expertise in assessment, planning and triage in the areas of mental health and developmental disabilities.
