Job Description

Under the direction of an attending anesthesiologist and a working member of the medically directed anesthesia care team, the CRNA provides direct patient care to children and adults with special needs undergoing oral surgery. The CNRA administers general anesthesia to patients via nasal and tracheal intubation. The CNRA utilizes skill, knowledge and judgment to observe, report, and record, relevant patient information. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Place peripheral intravenous catheters. Perform airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal intubations. Induce, maintain and emerge a patient from anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist. Monitor and legibly record findings on the anesthesia record. Tests anesthesia equipment for proper functioning. Communicate with anesthesiologist, dentist, physician, nursing, etc. Prepares the O.R. with the necessary anesthesia supplies, equipment, drugs and intravenous solution as appropriate for case. Undertake the plan of anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist. Maintain ongoing knowledge of the field of anesthesia. Assists with lifting, transfer, and transports patients weighing up to 300 pounds. Ability to push and carry patient care equipment using safe body mechanics. Frequent sitting and standing. Minimum Requirements   Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required Two years' experience working as a CRNA required; Pediatric anesthesia experience preferred. Graduate of an accredited school for nurse anesthetists Current certification as a nurse anesthetist required Massachusetts RN and CRNA license required Current CPR certification  Current PALS and ACLS certification preferred
