Pioneer Medical Center (PMC) is a Critical Access Hospital, Nursing Home, Rural Health Clinic, and Assisted Living Facility under one roof. There are 25 Critical Access Hospital and 16 Assisted Living beds. PMC provides a high-quality environment for the diagnosis, care and treatment of patients and residents. Pioneer Medical Center is affiliated with the Billings Clinic, The Billings Clinic organization of 150 specialty and sub-specialty physicians and its state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment capabilities are available to PMC's staff and medical providers. Excellent medical support services are available at PMC including: an experienced RN crew, lab, x-ray, CT, ultrasound, stress treadmill, colonoscopy and gastroscopy, pharmacy and ambulance transport (ground and air). Excellent rehabilitation services --- physical and occupational therapy --- are available on-site. Pioneer Medical Center is well-managed, financially sound, enjoys excellent support from the community and Sweet Grass County government and is fully responsive to patient and medical provider needs. Pioneer Medical Center is located in Big Timber, Montana, a community of 2,000 people, in the Yellowstone River Valley of south-central Montana with the Crazy and Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains nearby. Big Timber is the county seat of Sweet Grass County. County population is about 3,800 people. The town is located on I-90, a busy transportation route and Montana's only east-west interstate highway. The economy has a solid agriculture and ranching foundation. Also, Stillwater Mining Company, the largest private-sector employer in Montana, mines platinum and palladium in the area, providing many jobs. Opportunities for outdoor activities (hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing and boating) are plentiful with the mountains 15 minutes away and the Yellowstone and Boulder Rivers and high-mountain lakes not far from town.
