Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (BID-Plymouth) is a 155-bed acute care hospital serving more than 250,000 residents in Plymouth and Barnstable counties, and is the region’s leading provider of high-quality healthcare. As a not-for-profit, we provide comprehensive healthcare ranging from primary and preventive care to specialty services. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of our patients and our community by providing a full continuum of health care services with excellence and compassion. Throughout BID-Plymouth, quality improvement is the strategy that drives everything we do. Our concept of quality encompasses both clinical outcomes and the service components of all interactions with patients and their families.
Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, formerly Jordan Hospital, traces its history to the late 1800’s when a group of leading citizens from Plymouth saw a need to build a hospital to serve residents, and pursued the idea of “a hospital on the hill.” They approached retail tycoon, philanthropist, and summer resident Eben Jordan, of the Jordan Marsh Company, and he donated $20,000 to build what was to become Jordan Hospital. In December 1903, Jordan Hospital opened its doors to the first patients and has remained a community hospital ever since. In 2014, Jordan Hospital joined the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center family of hospitals and became Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth.
