This is complex professional work involving the performance and interpretation of clinical laboratory procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Work is performed in accordance with accepted standards and established policies and procedures and regulations. Effective performance requires independent judgment and action under minimal supervision.
Obtains, processes, examines and reports complex laboratory procedures.
Performs equipment and instrument maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
Performs quality control as required.
Prepares and maintains records as they relate to testing.
Maintains a safe hospital environment.
Assists in the instruction and orientation of personnel.
Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
Required - Associates degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science; or at least 3 years towards a Bachelor degree in an accredited medical laboratory science program; or 1.5 years towards an Associate degree in an accredited medical laboratory technician program.
Required - Eligible for registry as a Medical Laboratory Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent.
