Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Perioperative Services at Duke University Hospital, part of the Duke University Health System (DUHS).This career opportunity has oversight for perioperative nursing services at Duke University Hospital and Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center and is a unique opportunity to help build and grow our surgicalservice line. Your leadership will help us to deliver exceptional care to our patients and the community and allow you to grow within Duke Perioperative Nursing Services.

The ideal candidate has the ability to lead effectively in a matrixed organization requiring high levels of collaboration, sound judgment, and significant operational and practice management expertise. Plus, as a leader, you are expected to demonstrate a high level of responsibility, ethical practice, sensitivity to a diverse patient population, adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, and have knowledge of:

Physician practice management
Clinical operational issues
Research practice that contributes to effective and efficient care structures and processes
Health care payment systems and future models of reimbursement
Sound financial management practices
Relevant legislation and regulation
Quality and safety

As the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Perioperative Nursing, you will be responsible for:

Nursing practice
Collaboration and partnership across DUHS
Management and leadership
Strategic planning
Finance and growth
Operational oversight

Education

Master's degree required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Doctorate preferred.

Experience

Seven years of progressive nursing leadership experience is required including at least 4 years of experience in a management role.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.

Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a leadership certification within three months ofhire. New nurse leaders who are ineligible to sit for an exam because they have not been working in a leadership role for the minimum amount of time required must complete their certification within three months of becoming eligible.
