Responsibilities

Utilizing clinical knowledge, along with an understanding of national coding guidelines and standards of compliance, will review physician documentation to improve overall quality and completeness. This will include accurate, complete and compliant documentation of Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC), ICD-10-CM specificity, appropriate support for medical necessity, severity of illness and risk of mortality.

Qualifications

Associates Degree in Nursing required, Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred.

Current Oklahoma RN licensure required or active multistate RN license.

Professional certification in Clinical Documentation; CCDS, CCDS-O or CDIP preferred and/or Professional coding certification; RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, COC or CRC preferred.

3 to 5 years direct clinical nursing experience required.

Experience in a broad range of clinical situations/settings preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Strong interpersonal communication (verbal and non-verbal and listenting) skills.

Experience in developing and presenting education programs.

Self motivated, self directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Well organized and detail oriented.

Capable of critical thinking, reasoning, deduction and inference while displaying the ability to draw accurate conclusions.

If not already obtained, certification in Clinical Documentation and/or coding certification is voluntary but highly recommended within 3 - 5 years.
