Job Summary

The responsibilities of the Clinical Analyst include the overall implementation and maintenance of designated clinical systems, the troubleshooting and resolution of all types of reported problems, the design, modification and validation of applications, and provides assistance with the technical support and administration of the systems. Assists in the clinical systems planning for Information and Technology Services

Essential Job Functions

Consults and obtains input from all levels involved to develop and implement appropriate solutions to satisfy operational and clinical business requirements. Assume leadership role with discussions with Medical staff, management personnel and clinical department directors to ascertain specific application and|or report requirements and develop system implementation plans and end user|IT documentation as required.
Analyze clinical workflow processes and recommends alternative methods of deriving input data to select the most feasible and economical method. Present recommendations to department manager|director and other hospital personnel as needed. Considers future maintainability and impact on existing systems|procedures
Prepares test plans, tests data, and coordinates test efforts with all involved. Documents, resolves, and follows up all differences between expected results and actual results, and controls the testing cycles through user approval.
Communicates effectively to all project team personnel, end users and department management. Informs user personnel of system specifications and assists users with system development .Informs management of project status, issues and progress towards projected completion. Informs management of any schedule changes with appropriate justification. Modifications are reviewed with user department and appropriate sign offs are obtained prior to moving to production environment
Keeps up with industry trends in Clinical Information Systems, researches new platforms and participates in the direction taken by Clinical Departments as it relates to information systems.
Acts as liaison between Childrens Specialized Hospital and vendors.
Demonstrates understanding of the relationship between internal systems control and critical business functions to maintain the integrity of applications. Perform post-implementation reviews and maintenance procedures for problems or enhancements made
Maintain working knowledge of the interrelationships of all clinical and financial systems
Participate and conduct end user training as well as develop and perform application presentations as assigned by Management
Follow IT policies regarding security and application change control. As scheduled|required work at other Childrens facilities and on other shifts as assigned by IT management. Will provide off hours on call support as assigned by IT management. Perform other work as assigned as assume duties of other analysts during absences
Encourage and enable others to speak openly and honestly. Keeps management informed on key issues. Identify and respond to differing points of view among colleagues. Encourage people to think about what they are doing and to suggest better ways.


Formal Education and Job-Related Experience
* (1) or more years of Clinical Systems Installation experience required. BSN or Computer Science Degree and (2) or more years of Hospital experience preferred. RN required, BSN preferred

Education and Experience - Additional Comments
* High degree of accuracy and analytical ability. Hospital operations|process experience and the ability to implement improvements. Exposure to multi-user Health Information Systems and hospital procedures. Analytical design, planning and system conversion experience. Adaptability to perform a variety of tasks Subject to frequency change, changes in production for priority reasons and development of new operating procedures
