Purchasing Procurement Analyst I

The Procurement Analyst I will monitor and analyze trends within purchasing to identify and target opportunities to reduce operating expenses related to med/surg products, goods, services and equipment purchased by the organization. This role will partner with other departments to identify and lead agreed upon initiatives to manage expenses.
The position will develop well-rounded industry knowledge in various sub-category groupings and monitor the competitive marketplace to ensure awareness of products and services, best practices, trends, new developments and initiatives.
The Procurement Analyst I will maintain a current knowledge of available information databases and emerging tools and technology that will best support the procurement initiatives.
The Procurement Analyst I has the ability to plan and analyze complex processes, proficiency in computer software programs and databases, data mining and extrapolation skills, effective negotiation skills, attention to detail, strong critical reasoning skills and the ability to interpret benchmark analytics to relay information.
The Procurement Analyst I utilizes benchmarking tools to evaluate, compare and contract pricing on non-stock and stock items. Analyzes usage of supplies, equipment and services throughout assigned departments; develops an ongoing list of items which are candidates for standardization throughout the system. Reviews and interprets analytical data generated via various data systems and acts upon opportunities as they are presented. Uses all resources available appropriately to source product and benchmark vendor offers.
The Procurement Analyst I participates in task groups and implementation teams involved with Information Systems activities which affect the Supply Chain Department. Provides mentoring/training for all department Buyer positions. Serves as a resource for team members and other members within the department and throughout the organization.
The Procurement Analyst I may provide support through statistics, data and contracting information to both the Surgical Value Analysis and Hospital Value Analysis committees, as needed.
The Procurement Analyst I creates, develops, generates and present the Supply Chain Scorecard and other department specific utilization and spend reports and scorecards as requested. Utilizes quality metrics, strong mathematics and strategic thinking to mine and interpret data as well as manage and forecast report information.
The Procurement Analyst provides other services as requested by Management in support of departmental objectives and has the ability to multitask and manage time expectations.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma required. Bachelor's preferred
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified Materials Resources Professional Certification preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Must be enrolled in a Procurement Degree related field within 1 year from date of hire or transfer. Degree must be obtained within 4 years from date of hire or transfer required. Advanced excel experience required. Purchasing experience preferred.
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Demonstrates ability to perform intermediate to advanced financial calculations and spreadsheet navigation. Exhibits strong critical reasoning skills.
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
This position reports to department leadership.
