Maine Behavioral Healthcare, a member of MaineHealth, is seeking a BC/BE Addiction Psychiatrist for work in southern Maine.

The selected candidate will provide patient care and medical leadership to a multidisciplinary team in Maine Behavioral Healthcares continuum of care. This position will be based in the Biddeford and South Portland clinics, which provide intensive outpatient and stabilization services for patients with opioid use disorders and other substance use disorders. The selected candidate will direct the treatment team planning process of pharmacologic and therapeutic interventions and provide medication management services including buprenorphine within the clinic, and will also provide coverage in other clinics and through on-call duties. Teaching opportunities may be available through the states only psychiatry residency, which is based at Maine Medical Center and through a newly developed addictions fellowship. MaineHealth has adopted a hub and spoke approach to deliver integrated medication assisted treatment throughout its footprint in Maine and New Hampshire. Intensive outpatient treatment is provided in hubs operating by Maine Behavioral Healthcare, and ongoing IMAT treatment is provided within primary care Patient Centered Medical Homes in each local health care system, ensuring that that patients have a full complement of primary care services as well as treatment for SUD. This position will be based in our Biddeford and South Portland hubs, providing treatment to patients and serving as a consultant and liaison to the primary care spokes. Qualified candidates will ascribe to MaineHealths harm reduction philosophy in which we seek to ensure that patients maintain access to treatment in a safe and therapeutic environment.

Maine Behavioral Healthcare is Northern New Englands leading integrated behavioral healthcare system. It serves predominantly southern, western, central and Mid-Coast Maine, and is composed of southern Maines only nonprofit psychiatric hospital, outpatient treatment, crisis services, Crisis Stabilization units, as well as 5 ACT teams. Additionally, MBH is developing comprehensive system-wide substance use disorder services, including services for opiate and alcohol addictions for individuals from the region. This initiative is in conjunction with MBHs role as the lead agent for the development of a comprehensive behavioral health service line for all of MaineHealth. This fully integrated and growing system of behavioral healthcare makes it a regional and national model for treating people with serious behavioral health issues. MBHs 30-plus clinical programs and nearly 30 service locations is one of the broadest behavioral healthcare programs in the state.
