Utilizes critical thinking skills by providing a process for assessment of individuals and their families at risk for hereditary cancers
Provides education for individuals and families related to transmission of cancer risk and options available for screening and prevention
Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the system hospital, program, and department and through own behavior, leads and motivates others to do so
Participates in growth and self-development activities to enhance the role
Promotes cohesiveness and peer support among staff and program colleagues
Utilizes assessment process to provide safe, effective, quality patient care
Develops an individualized education plan to achieve identified learning needs
Advocates for patient/family
Demonstrates a customer service approach in interactions with others
Participates in quality improvement activities to evaluate and improve patient care
Utilizes resources effectively and efficiently
Provides leadership in program development, program marketing, and education


Evidence of graduation from an education program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) or its predecessor.
A valid and current certification issued by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics as a certified genetic counselor.



Experience in cancer genetics counseling preferred
Strong knowledge base in genetics counseling
Critical thinking skills
Excellent customer service skills
The ability to establish effective relationships with health care team members
Skillful in teaching others
A valid and current certification issued by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics as a certified genetic counselor.
License to practice as a genetic counselor in the state of Minnesota.

Position to include Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area Allina Hospital(s) and telehealth.
