DUKE CHILDRENS HOSPITAL AND HEALTH CENTER
Position Summary:Assist the Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer in supervision, coordination, and participation in activities relative to the practice area including management of human and financial resources, staff development, and policy development. The Pharmacy Manager has varied accountabilities and skillsets, some of which include:
Supervise and coordinate pharmaceutical care responsibilities
Plan and schedule work for the practice area
Manage staff development activities
Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff
Ensure compliance with all regulatory practice standards
Maintain interface with medical and nursing staff to provide regular information
Evaluate staff compliance with department policy
Suggest performance improvement plans and assist with implementation
Communicate clearly in written and oral form
Extensive knowledge of drug products, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states
Ability to work with information systems, automated and technical equipment
Knowledge of practice standards and regulatory requirements
Required or desired credentials and experience of applicants: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and two years of experience as a pediatric pharmacist; pediatric pharmacy management experience preferred; completion of pharmacy residency preferred; licensed in North Carolina or eligible for same; certified in Basic Life Support (BLS); certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree OR BS Pharmacy Degree
Three years of pharmacy practice experience; Managerial/supervisory experience preferred
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form.
Extensive knowledge of drug products, medical therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states. Ability to work with information systems, automated and technical equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various members of the health care teams.
Knowledge of practice standards and regulatory requirements.
