DIETITIAN - OUTPATIENT

Provides outpatient nutrition and diabetes counseling and education to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital/Health Group patients. Completes nutrition assessments, developes and implements care plans. Conducts individual and group programs and presentations. Attends meetings and care conferences, provides input and feedback regarding patients nutrition care.
B.A. or B.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION
Registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
License by the Montana State Board of Medical Examiners
CDE preferred or previous experience with Diabetes Self-Management Education
Successful completion of ADA/CDR approved internship - Registration Eligible.
2 years clinical dietetics experience
KNOWLEDGE OF, SKILLS IN, ABILITY TO, COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULY:
Application of Medical Nutrition Therapy
Diabetes Self Management Education including medication therapy
Teaching various nutrition therapy/concepts including Diabetes Self Management Education
Personal Computers, hardware and basic software programs including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets.
Age appropriate Nutrition counseling and assessments
Advanced oral and written communication skills
Group teaching and presentations
Refer to policy manual for specific instructions/guidelines. Follow established Policies and Procedures
Adhere to the standards of the job description and overall philosophy of Bozeman Deaconess Hospital
Maintain flexibility to adapt to a variety of workload assignments.
Attend staff meetings and in-services
COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULTY:
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Mentally and physically perform duties of the position.
60% Time Spent - Conducts and documents MNT assessments, education and counseling including Diabetes Self Management Educaiton for patients of BDHS.
10% Time Spent - Develops and presents community and group BDHS programs including DSME and MNT classes
5% Time Spent - Participates in community health fairs and events.
5% Time Spent - Communicates patients nutrition status to other healthcare providers.
25% Time Spent - ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participates in the development of nutrition education materials and programs.
Bills for professional services.
Coordinates patient care with outside agencies, clinics and other health care professionals
Completes monthly QI monitors and implements actions for improvement
Provides in-service training for nursing and other departments as requested
Acts as the nutrition liason/resource to Health Group clinics
Obtains and maintains supplies needed to perform work duties from office coordinators, print shop, marketing, etc.
Attends meetings as scheduled
