Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations.
Diagnose and treat acute health problems, such as infections, illnesses, and injuries.
Diagnose, treat and monitor patients who are admitted to the ICU with acute and chronic diseases such as pneumonia, STEMI, COPD, diabetes, CAD and sepsis.
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies such as lab work and X-rays.
Perform ongoing assessment of acuity of patients for referral if necessary.
Promote positive health behaviors and self-care skills of patients through education and counseling.
Consult with physicians concerning patient evaluation. Instruct patients and families and answer questions.
Initiate requests for consultations and referrals.
Maintain accurate patient records, charts, and documentation for administrative purposes and reimbursement for services.
Comply with established nursing standards and emergency department protocols. Implement and maintain established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
Collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals
Provides coordination of patient flow, staff management of time including breaks, overtime and overall unit/department functionality. Supervises care provided by team members to maintain highest quality of care.
