Job Description

The PM&R Therapy Research Specialist works collaboratively with the PM&R Leadership Team to promote intra- and inter-departmental clinical and translational research. The Therapy Research Specialist collaborates with colleagues throughout the Mayo Clinic system to optimize, facilitate, and coordinate enterprise-wide research opportunities. The Research Specialist will work with the Mayo Clinic Department of Research, statisticians, and Mayo Clinic IRB to plan and manage future and existing PM&R research. The Research Specialist is responsible for educating and assisting all PM&R staff in research-related subject matter, including protocol development, key project deliverables, project timelines, budgets, vendors, collaboration with the Clinical Studies Unit, and protocol submission to the IRB. Providing patient care is an expected role of the Therapy Research Specialist. The percentage of direct patient care will be reviewed on a routine basis by the PM&R Leadership Team based upon current and future programming requirements.


Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program required. Doctoral degree (i.e. PhD, OTD, or DSc) in a health care related field required. Three years relevant PM&R practice experience required.
