The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for establishing, approving and adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, the Joint Commission standards and standards from other accrediting bodies. This position is responsible for integrating the department of nursing into TJ Samson Hospital and Outpatient facility primary functions by developing a plan for providing patient care that is consistent with the vision, mission and values of the organization. Participates as a member of the hospitals management team in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions, and operations of the hospitals nursing services.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Kentucky.
Masters of Science in Nursing degree required.
Current CPR certification.
Five years of clinical experience.
Three years of experience in nursing management and/or equivalent nursing experience.
Prior experience as a Chief Nursing Officer required. Possesses skills and knowledge in the following areas: principles of organization, theories of management, human resources management, strategies of nursing management, financial management, foundations of health laws, and statistics and research.
Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong clinical skills with ability to react decisively in emergency situations.
Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
The ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and the application of sound administrative principles
