We are currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Technologist I. The primary purpose of this position is to provide timely accurate results of laboratory analysis to the requesting healthcare provider. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Work in all areas of the clinical laboratory, working alone at time on evenings and weekends.
Responsible for performing procedures, interpreting and reporting results.
Troubleshooting
Maintaining equipment
Ensuring quality control
Assuming the role of section leader in one or more departments as assigned by the laboratory supervisor, and for training other technologists in that department.

There are multiple positions posted. These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with rotating weekends and holidays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Basic knowledge of the psychophysiology processes being monitored and how the medical laboratory science is applied.
Considerable knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology.
Considerable knowledge of the variety of laboratory procedures applicable to the area(s) of work.
Thorough knowledge of the field of medical technology.
Thorough knowledge of the hazards of working with potentially infectious materials and the appropriate safety precautions to avoid infections.
Ability to perceive colors normally.
Ability to maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment.
Ability to interpret abnormal results.
Ability to prepare various laboratory media.
Ability to research and develop procedures and methods and ability to implement necessary changes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in a medical laboratory;
or
Associate's degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory;
or
Completion of a certified Laboratory Assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course and three years of experience in a medical laboratory;
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
