Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager performs technical and clerical pharmacy tasks
Must be courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other employees of the organization.
Assists pharmacists in clarification and filling of pharmacy requisitions.
Maintains appropriate records.
Prepares sterile products, parenteral nutrition solutions and chemotherapy using aseptic techniques.
Dispenses medication under supervision of pharmacists.
Prepackages and assists in labeling of medications from bulk containers to unit dose containers.
Receives, unpacks, and checks shipments against invoices.
Orders and stocks medications to maintain par inventory levels.
Processes medication returns when necessary.
Replenishes unit dose stock bins and checks frequently for expired medications in the night cabinet.
Occasionally bills patient drug charges.
Dispenses alcohol to laboratory.
Maintains cleanliness of department.
Fills unit-dose carts, IV fill list, automated dispensing machines.
Delivers medications to floors on scheduled rounds.
Returns discontinued meds to stock after checking expiration date.
Bills floors, drugstores, physicians for medication via computer system.
Answers telephone and diverts all medication/clinical inquiries to pharmacist.
Performs monthly nursing unit inspections, maintain workload records, and collect quality-asurance data.
Must wear facility provided identification badge at all times.
Other duties may be assigned.
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Must be a Nationally Certified Registered Pharmacy Tech.
