Job Description

The Authorization Specialist provides financial support for the Outpatient offices. Specialists are responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of patient and billing information registration/authorizations, follow-up, contacting insurance companies to obtain correct eligibility information, perform benefit investigations, check prior authorization, obtain authorizations, provide support to patients with copay assistance, enrollment process and answering patient insurance related questions.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
High School diploma is required. Associates Degree in Office Practices is preferred
2+ years of prior experience working in a healthcare, human services or business office setting is required
Prior computer software experience using word processing, spreadsheets and databases is required
Effective communication skills and able to relate to people constructively and professionally
Able to interact professionally with a diverse group of staff, in addition to the ability to work productively in teams
Able to maintain positive relationships and provide excellent customer service
