We are currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Technologist II at Central Regional Hospital.
This is specialized professional and technical work in a laboratory with a considerable amount of time in the performance of specialized procedures, quality control, education, and/or lead worker functions that typically have a laboratory-wide scope and impact.
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide timely accurate results of laboratory analysis to the requesting heath care provider.
Work in all areas of the clinical laboratory.
Performing procedures, interpreting and reporting results.
Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment and ensuring quality control.
Assuming the role of section leader in one or more departments as assigned by the laboratory supervisor, and for training other technologists in that department.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with rotating weekends and holidays.
Salary Grade: GN10
Recruitment Range: $39,611 - $67,060

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following:
Must possess considerable theoretical knowledge of a variety of laboratory procedures.
Knowledge of instrumentation, terminology and equipment used in the laboratory.
Working knowledge of computer systems employed by the laboratory and hospital.
General knowledge of the basic pathophysiological processes being monitored and how clinical laboratory science is applied.
Physical requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
Four-year college/university degree in medical technology, chemistry or biological science. ASCP certification.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology, chemistry or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory in the assigned area;
Associate's degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of medical laboratory experience;
Completion of a certified laboratory assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of medical laboratory experience;
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
