Perioperative Nurse Manager

Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Patient Care Services, the Perioperative manager will provide nursing leadership for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care for the operating room. Direct responsibility and 24 hour accountability for OR nursing service activities. Collaborates with physicians and departments within Patient Care Services, coordinating the needs of patients and their families; manages the department to maintain the highest quality of care.
Manages departmental budget; monitors expenses. Coordinates effective use of supplies/equipment.
Sets standards for the OR; works with the OR staff and surgical service ensuring standards are met.
Functions as liaison between the OR and the nursing units for continuity of surgical patient care.
Manages Central Supply, Surgical Scrub Technicians, Anesthesia Technician, Health Unit/ Scheduling Coordinator.
Asses educational needs of the unit. Develops goals; recommends educational programs in collaboration with Clinical Education.
Effective communication skills necessary. The ability to react decisively in emergencies. Must show skill in directing, motivating and leading staff.
BSN required; Masters in nursing or related field preferred; CNOR preferred. Current CPR certification required.
Five (5) years Perioperative Nursing experience preferred.
Minimal three (plus) years of nurse management experience required.
