JOB TITLE: Nurse Practitioner

I. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides general medical care, treatment and health care services to patients within scope of their licensure and expertise level.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program

Licensures, Certifications, Registrations: Current Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner and from the American Nurses Association (ANA); approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner with a current Montana Board of Nursing license as an advanced practice nurse, ACLS

Job Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Analyzing data to formulate diagnosis and treatment plans; professional communication skills, both verbal and written; exercises initiative and judgment; conflict resolution; demonstrates empathy and sensitivity necessary to elicit patients/familys cooperation and ally apprehensions; works in a manner which is conducive to productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness

Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examination, compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.

Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services as appropriate and differentiates between normal and abnormal information contained in the test results

Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality; participates in the continued program development and marketing of service line.

Demonstrate adherence to the laws and regulations passed by official regulations, general principles of ethical conduct and internal policies and procedures.

JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant

I. POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the clinical supervision of a physician and direct supervision of the Director, the Physician Assistant provides general medical care, treatment and health care services to patients within the scope of their licensure and expertise level of the supervising physician.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

Licensures, Certifications, Registrations: ACLS. Current license as a Physician Assistant from the Montana Board of Medical Examiners

Job Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: As outlined in III.

Experience: Negotiable

III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital

Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examination, compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination

o Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services as appropriate and differentiates between normal and abnormal information contained in the test results

o Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care and managing infections within the scope of their licensure and the expertise level of the supervising physician

Formulates diagnosis of primary care problem, develops, implements and monitors patient care plans, records progress notes and assists in the provision of continuity of care; conferring with the supervising physician as necessary and/or appropriate.

o Instructs or counsels patients and families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.

o Refers patients to other health care providers and appropriate sources of care as necessary.

Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.

Demonstrates adherence to the laws and regulations passed by official regulatory bodies, general principles of ethical conduct and internal policies and procedures.
