Job Description

A professional registered, licensed dietician whose job duties assist with the development and support of HMC personnel, patients, and community members through the provision of quality educational opportunities with a focus on diabetes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing, presenting and/or coordinating educational programs; adhering to governing agencies guidelines and mandates; assessing patients and developing meal plans according to current standards of care; and acting as a resource and liaison to the community, physicians, nursing units and ancillary department at HMC.


Minimum Education

Bachelors Degree with an accredited nutrition curriculum as well as satisfactory performance on the national registration exam to become and maintain registered (RD) status.

Minimum Work Experience

Required Licenses/Certifications

Current licensure RD in the state of Texas

Preferred: Certified Diebetes Instructor (CDE)

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Commitment to diabetes education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services.

Ability to develop and present educational information in a professional manner.

Organize and complete educational records according to facility and governing agency requirements.
