Perform a variety of police duties in enforcing laws to protect lives and Duke University property.
Perform a variety of police duties in patrolling assigned area on footor in police car to detect crime andto arrest violators; patrol parking lots, outlying University properties and University buildings to ensure their security.
Regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic; investigate traffic accidents and file preliminary accident report; check all automobiles on University property for improper parking, overtime parking and display of University registration decal; issue tickets for vehicular violations.
Provide emergency ambulance service and temporary first-aid treatment to members of the University community and to visitors; provide emergency escort service to students and staff where necessary.
Prepare and present testimony in court concerning traffic violations, burglaries and other offenses.
Provide information about Duke University to students, staff and the general public.
Escort money for various University units upon request.
Provide security for special University events.
Assist in the training of new public safety officers.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Associate degree, Bachelor's degree preferred. Work requires comprehensive and communication skills normally acquired through a high school education. Work requires a North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement certification, as well as a North Carolina Campus Police Certification or certification eligibility.
Work requires no prior experience.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE. Work requires a minimum age limit of 20 years. Work also requires a North Carolina driver's license.
