Network Engineer I - Network Infrastructure

The Network Engineer I provides technical support to include: planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all Network Infrastructure equipment for the data, voice, and video networks that support core organizational functions. The Network Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. The Network Engineer I provides Tier 2 and 3 level support within the organization.
1. Education: Bachelor's degree required. (Current employees who were hired or transitioned into this position before Mar 1, 2019 are grandfathered using the educational requirement in place at the time they were hired or transitioned into the core job title(s) of Network Administrator)
Network Infrastructure Network Engineer I: Strong competency in the areas of layer 2 switching with working knowledge of layer 3 routing protocols. Strong competency in networking, voice, video, security and wireless technologies and services. Strong working knowledge of Cisco firewalls, Palo Alto NGFW, Cisco ISE and VPN.
Licensure/Certifications: Certifications within Cisco or similar products or systems are preferred.
Reports to: Network Infrastructure Manager
3. Experience: Minimum of two year's relevant experience or three years' progressive experience in a complex IT environment with demonstrated competency.
