As Medical Laboratory Manager, incumbent is responsible for the departments administrative functions such as scheduling, budgeting, employee evaluations and competencies, inventories, and other department and personnel issues.
The Medical Lab Manager/Chief Technologist reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. In the capacity of Chief Technologist, incumbent reports to and works closely with the medical Laboratory Director on testing methodology and procedures, verification of testing, resolution of technical problems, QC issues, and other clinical/technical issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Directs the development goals and objectives for the department.
Directs the development of the department operating and capital budgets to meet the goals and objectives of the hospital
Establishes operating policies and procedures and controls to ensure an efficient organization
Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, The Joint Commission standards and laws governing healthcare operations.
Effectively presents written and verbal information to top management, medical staff, public groups and the Governing Body.
Serves on committees as directed by the CEO
Directs and supports performance improvement activities of the department.
Reviews and maintains department contracts and agreements for need requirements and cost effectiveness.
Establishing a QC program appropriate for the testing performed and establishing the parameter for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire process from the initial receipt of the specimen, through the sample analysis and reporting of results.
DESIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Bachelors in Medical Technology, or chemical, physical or biological science and 4 years training/experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty
Current Medical technology licensure in the state of Louisiana
Three to five years in laboratory supervisory or management experience in hospital
