Job Description


The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Clinical Research Coordinator to support the clinical research studies in the Division of Neonatology. The individual will be responsible for assisting Principle Investigators in conducting NIH and industry clinical trials in close collaboration with the neonatology team including faculty, trainees, and staff. Current major studies involve delivery room resuscitation, aerosolized surfactant, and interventions to improve neurodevelopmental outcomes of preterm infants. Responsibilities will include ensuring IRB and other regulatory requirements are met and all aspects of the trials are accomplished. The individual will be supervising a Junior CRC in study conduct including obtaining informed consent from parents, carrying out study protocols, and data entry. This position is open to applicants for both an intermediate and senior level.

To be considered for the Intermediate CRC level, candidates must have at least three years of substantial clinical research experience. A related graduate degree may substitute for one year of experience. Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) certification is desirable but not required.

To be considered for the Senior CRC level candidates must have a minimum of six years of clinical research experience. A related graduate degree may substitute for three years of experience. Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) certification is required.

The successful applicant will have the ability to manage multiple clinical trials and have excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with NICU faculty, parents of NICU infants, and NICU nurses and other staff is required. Knowledge of all aspects of clinical research including IRB and industry regulatory procedures and proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is required. Experience with REDCap and OnCore is desirable.
