Job Description


1SE is the inpatient mental health unit with 22 semi private beds, providing care to voluntary adult and geriatric psychiatric patients. Some involuntary patients may be admitted under court order for psychiatric evaluation and/or treatment. Typical patients have dementia may come from skilled nursing facilities and cannot adapt. Many patients are medically complex in addition to their psychiatric disorder, and can be combative. 1SE has 25 staff members; 8 Nurses, 8 CNAs, 5 UCCs, as well as Psychiatrists, Therapists, and Social Workers.

Hours: Minimum pool requirement is 6 - 8 hour shifts in a 6 week period. Must be able to work day (7a-3:30p) and PM (3p-11:30p) shifts. One holiday per year and weekend availability also required.

The Certified Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator works in a dual role.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Perform applicable charge entry on patient accounts, ensuring charges entered are accurate.
Perform customer service, answering phones, ordering of unit office and food supplies, and answering unit door.
Communicate changes in patient situations/conditions that would require notification to the RN.
Assists with patient activities as delegated by the RN including activities of daily living (i.e. dressing, ambulating, toileting, eating, grooming, oral care and bathing.)
Minimum interaction with the patient must include conversation about their need for toileting, positioning, pain control, and possessions.
Under the direction of the RN offers non-pharmacological pain intervention to assist with patient comfort.
Obtains pertinent data pertaining to the patient as delegated (i.e. blood pressure, pulse, pulse ox, temperature, input and output), accurately documents care provided and notifies RN of outcomes in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Active or expired Nursing Assistant Certification on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry.
Prior C.N.A. experience preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS CPR) required. If do not have/not current must obtain upon hire.
