Grants and Contracts Specialist--Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging

The Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging is seeking a fulltime Grants and Contracts Specialist to join the Research Division. The incumbent in this position serves as a key member of the team and performs responsibilities that support the administration and reporting of grants and contracts in the Research Division.
The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and completing activities related to accounting and post award grant reconciliation and analysis of sponsored program accounts. The Grants and Contracts Specialist ensures the accuracy of sponsored program expenditures and ensures compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and university rules and regulations. The incumbent in this position prepares financial reports, approves expenditures and disbursements, completes labor scheduling, and coordinates effort reporting. In addition, the Grants and Contracts Specialist assists with preparing budgets, and in conjunction with the Research Administration Team, presents quarterly updates to Section Heads on grants and contracts activities.
The Grants and Contracts Specialist works in collaboration with faculty, staff, and senior leaders to address and resolve financial issues. In addition, the incumbent provides information to faculty, staff, and external sponsors on policy and procedure interpretation, new regulations, and new processes.
The incumbent in this position will possess a working knowledge of grants and contracts and will have experience in interpreting and applying policies from multiple levels of authority (federal, state, and institutional). The Grants and Contracts Specialist will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication abilities in daily interactions and will have the ability to work independently or a part of a team. In addition, the incumbent will be proficient in computer applications, and will have a working knowledge of various database and software programs, specifically Microsoft Office and ORACLE applications.
Education: Associate's degree
Experience: At least two years of accounting and/or grant and contract experience
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
