The Stroke Neurology and Neurohospitalist practice is an integrated hospital neurology practice that covers both the United Hospital inpatient practice as well as the virtual hospital consisting of 19 telestroke/teleneurology spoke sites. This is an every other week shift model, shared by 7 partners, soon to be 8, with 50% of the time dedicated to the telemedicine work. There is a very small clinic commitment (3 hours per month) that is designed only to support the subspecialty service work (not a general Neurology clinic). This practice offers a Stroke System of Care approach allowing patients immediate access to the highest levels of care allowing transfer to or quaternary center for Neurovascular, Epilepsy, and Neurosurgical/Neurointerventional needs when needed, but also focusing on keeping patients close to home and helping in the development of and appropriate level of local expertise needed at these sites.

Provides direct patient care for clinical patients for designated specialty
Functions appropriately as part of care delivery team through efficient use of resources and skills, both their own and those of other provider and staff
Chart in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope
Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management
Quality improvement utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes or workflows

Education

MD
Neurology Residency
Stroke Fellowship preferred, but Stroke program experience accepted

Qualification/Skills

Experience
We are looking for either a Fellowship trained Stroke Neurologist (new graduates welcome) or a Neurohospitalist with neurocritical care and stroke neurology experience to fill this open position.
The applicant will need to have a strong interest in telemedicine but prior experience with this work is not required.

Licensure/Certification
Must have current, unrestricted Minnesota State Medical Licensure
Must be board certified or be eligible for board certification within designated specialty

Work Schedule

Schedule will be comprised mostly of 12 hour shifts, either days or night. Clinic requirement is also for 3 hrs or clinic time per month for every week of call.
