Perform various AT assessments and training to clients:Develop and implement an evaluation plan so that the participant's needs are met and referral sources questions answered. Modify evaluation methods as necessary due to disability factors. Explore adaptations and accommodation for the computer and workplace, explore career goals and how a computer can be utilized, assess computer skills and aptitude.
Increase knowledge of Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute's disabled community and client base to expand the vocational and computer assistive technology evaluation program to better serve the Metro area's disabled population.
Increase knowledge of disabilities and their effect upon the individual on an ongoing basis.
Increase knowledge of adaptions for computers and work place.
Train staff, research, share information and be a resource within Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute:Work under the management of the AT Supervisor to establish Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institutes' Assistive Technology Center as a renowned national leader, providing specialized training to individuals who use assistive technology and professionals on new assistive technologies.Coordinate and provide training for all existing and new assistive technology throughout Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute per the AT supervisor's direction/plan.
Gather, write and coordinate the collection of technology information, resources and expertise to enhance the program services and product opportunities for the assistive technology shared folder.
Act as a problem solving resource on assistive technology issues to all Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute's staff in order to assure optimal usage and consistent functioning of non-computer based technology such as Kindle, Tablets, Smart Pen, Google Home and Amazon Echo.
Identify and prioritize those technologies that are most needed in the organization to accomplish our goals with individuals who use assistive technology. Make recommendations for and coordinate the purchasing of new assistive technology for Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute to AT supervisor.

Coordinate with the AT scheduler regularly on incoming referrals:Work with AT scheduler to schedule appointments once funding is in place with the individual who uses assistive technology referral source and other involved parties so that the evaluation results can be clearly explained to all those involved, with an opportunity for questions and discussion of final recommendations.
Work with AT scheduler to effectively schedule evaluation sessions in a manner that best services the individuals who use assistive technology needs and meets the revenue projections of the program.
General AT Lab Duties: Assist staff with their equipment needs
General clerical or computer tasks, including data entry, filing, photocopying, mailing and preparation assistance with PowerPoint presentations
Maintain a neat and efficient assistive technology center by organizing the work/storage areas, and cleaning equipment
Review and update the assistive technology equipment inventory
Coordinate the shipping of equipment to staff throughout CKRI
Other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelors Degree in an assistive technology or related field (therapeutic rehabilitation, speech language pathology, occupational therapist, special educator, etc) with at least three years experience with people with physical disabilities and technology.
Prefer ATP certification

Qualification/Skills

Strong knowledge of computer technology including hardware and software related to vocational adaptions, augmentative communication devices, computers and switches, EADL's, and recreation activities.
Excellent observation skills to determine best assistive technology adaptations
Experience in providing one-on-one and group training
Experience working extensively with individuals who use assistive technology, other professional and families, and the ability to communicate effectively and build a rapport with them
Strong written communication skills
Strong ability to initiate, problem solve and work independently within given parameters to meet administrative responsibilities

Work Schedule

Departmental hours are generally 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday
Position is for 40 hours/week
