Position Summary:
Regions Hospital has an opening for a On-Call Clinical Research Enrollment Specialist. This position is responsible for screening and enrolling patients into active emergency and acute care clinical trials administered by the Critical Care Research Center at Regions Hospital. The Center oversees all research activities for the Emergency Medical Services department, the Emergency Department, the Burn Center, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and the Adult and Pediatric Level 1 Trauma programs. The clinical research enrollment specialist will be responsible for remote screening of potential research subjects, and if eligible, to complete consent, randomization, and data collection for research subjects. The successful candidate will be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clinical staff and research subjects.

Minium Qualifications:

Education:
Associate's or Bachelors degree in a health-related field required.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years working in a direct patient care role (PCA, EMT-B, RN, PA, or MD) or direct experience in an emergency department or intensive care setting; previous clinical research experience and experience working in an on-call role highly desired. MD degree will substitute for the 2 years of required direct patient care experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to good clinical practices (GCP)
- Strong clinical background with knowledge of patient flow within a hospital setting
- Ability to remotely conduct research subject screening, consent/enrollment, randomization, and initial data collection for active acute care research protocols
- Ability to translate clinical research protocol inclusion and exclusion criteria in a real world clinical setting
- Ability to quickly establish and maintain effective relationships with care providers, operations and support staff, and study participants through excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Active problem solving, flexibility, self-motivation and self-learning, with a desire to work with diverse workforce and subject populations.
- Extremely detail oriented and able to conduct oneself professionally in a dynamic and unpredictable environment; able to well effectively in a group or independently with minimal direct oversight
- Must be proficient in navigating and actively entering information into electronic medical records systems (Epic); comfortable using web-based applications for research data capture

Licensure/Registration/Certification:
- Must have a valid drivers license; must be able to fulfill on-call and off hours work

Preferred Certifications:
- Current licensure as an allied health care provider (PCA, EMT, paramedic, RN, PA, or MD) preferred
- Certified Clinical Research Coordinator certification (SoCRA or ACRP) desired, but not essential

Additional Information:
This is an on-call position. Clinical Research Enrollment Specialists are on call for 24 hours at a time, primarily on weekends (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) and holidays.

Please note: This position requires a minimum of 5 shifts per month (24 hours period; 7a-7a), with 2 of the 5 shifts on weekend days (Fri/Sat/Sun). Due to the time-sensitive nature of this position, candidates must be able to respond to Regions Hospital within 30 minutes.
