Hours: 9-5, 11-1930, 12-2030 Call required at least on night a week, one weekend every 6 weeks and one holiday a year
Full Time Benefits
The Surgical Assistant functions as members of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person. Allied health professionals who work under the direct supervision of an RN or physician to facilitate safe and effective care during invasive and operative procedures. Ensure that the OR is safe, equipment is functioning properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Possess advanced expertise in the theory and application of sterile technique and aseptic technique and combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, anatomical identification, and wound closure to the surgeon during the intraoperative phase of the patients care, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assists the assigned surgical team in room preparation, pre and post- operatively. A resource for the Surgical Technologist and R.N. in various specialties.
Associates Degree in Surgical technology, medical technology or related health services
BLS through American Heart Association required or ability to obtain during orientation
SCT/ CSFA status within one year of hire (or when eligible)
ST III criteria met
Certified CST within 1 year of hire
Experience as a Surgical Assistant required at this time.
Recommended AST membership within 6 months
