The Staff Development Department provides Hospital staff with in-service training which enables them to effectively fulfill job requirements, meet federal and state regulatory agency standards, meet the needs as identified by continous performance improvement findings, as well as to provide professional and personal growth opportunities. We are recruiting for a Staff Development Specialist II with responsibility for the overall coordination of education, staff training and new employee orientation. Duties consist of the following:
Develop, coordinate and implement training programs and activities
Develop curriculum to support evidence-based treatment programming
Partner with management to identify training needs
Conduct employee assessments and trains to deficiencies noted
Develop and maintain a training schedule based on on-going and identified needs of facility
Conduct audits of staff training records to ensure compliance with facility and regulatory training requirements (i.e., Joint Commission, Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS), etc.)
Provide oversight, training and development for instructors
NOTE: All employees must receive an annual seasonal Influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption prior to start date.
Salary Grade: GN11
Recruitment Range: $42,780 - $65,634

R.J. Blackley ADATC (RJB) is located in Butner, NC and is one of three inpatient centers for treatment of co-occurring substance use disorders in conjunction with other mental and medical illnesses. RJB is accredited by the Joint Commission and Certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques in training development
Experience teaching adult learners, preferably in a healthcare setting
Experience developing and organizing training materials and/or educational materials
Effective communication techniques to present training materials to a wide range of audiences
Considerable knowledge of capabilities and uses of audiovisual aids and other training tools and resources
Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Excel for reporting and data analysis
Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Powerpoint to create training, presentations, etc.
Ability to obtain/maintain instructor certification for NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) and CPR (American Heart Association Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Management prefers Master's degree and experience with Learning management System (LMS), preferably Cornerstone.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in a progressive training or teaching role; must include experience in organizing training events, assessing needs, counseling and evaluating sessions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
