This position is for a Medical Director at Allina Health Cambridge. The medical director will spend a portion of their time on administrative and leadership duties, and a portion of time on clinical practice. The leadership scope for this position is to oversee psychiatrists and psychiatry APRNs working in a partial hospitalization program (7 chairs) and day treatment program (7 chairs), and a 12-bed inpatient unit, MICD program, and psychiatry outpatient clinic. This is an opportunity to work in a robust and growing mental health program, that serves the population of Cambridge and surrounding areas.
Provides psychiatric services to a diverse patient population within the hospital inpatient unit
Provide direct clinical care in psychiatry
Develop behaviorally-focused, outcomes-based treatment plans of care that address mental health, functional impairment, and co-occurring addictive or medical disorders
Engage the patient and family to develop treatment plans that address identified goals
Champion primary care behavioral health, a model of integrated care that focuses on the full spectrum of patient health through close collaboration with multi-disciplinary primary care teams
Develop and lead staff education in psychiatric issues
Participate in relevant and ongoing professional training

Education

This position requires a Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine.

Qualification/Skills

Experience
Completion of a psychiatry residency

Licensure/Certification
Must have current, unrestricted Minnesota State Medical Licensure
Board Certified in Psychiatry within 2 years of hire

Skills
Team-oriented; relates well with patients, families and multi-disciplinary clinical partners
Practices evidence-based decision making and supports clinical quality improvement
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates empathy and sensitive listening/questioning abilities
Exhibits time efficiency, flexibility and ability to manage in a high paced environment

Work Schedule

This position will primary work Monday-Friday during daytime hours, and will have some on-call shifts for evening and weekends.
