Acts as the primary clinical assistant for the physicians and is responsible for ensuring appropriate clinical support is provided including reviewing documentation and findings with the physicians, answering patient questions and assisting in Excellian documentation. In addition, this position is expected to provide periodic sideline coverage and team support.
Athletic Trainers, work as part of the care team assisting to provide and coordinate care for the patients across the continuum with Allina Health orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians and other clinical team members. Athletic trainers will be hired to provide clinic assistance in a high volume orthopedic physicians' practice with all of our physicians at all clinic locations.
Master's degree in Athletic Training preferred; BS or BA in Athletic Training required, eligible for Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Registration.
Must be able to effectively diagnose and provide initial sideline treatment for injured athletes. Effective communication with doctors, coaches, parents and athletes is essential. Clinical duties require an ability to work with patients of all strata, proactively anticipate the needs of physicians, and accurately document the physician's findings, recommendations and treatment plan in the electronic medical record. Strong PC skills required.
Having skills in administration, communications and record keeping, education etc.
Will need to provide transportation to various events, which may include a valid drivers license
Licensure with the State of Minnesota required
Certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association board of certification required
First Aid and CPR certification required
Must be able to work at several of our orthopedic clinic locations within the Twin Cities - Plymouth, Edina, Minneapolis, United, Coon Rapids.
Will need to work a minimum # of hours annually providing outreach athletic training medical services on evenings and weekends.
May be asked to work in extended hours clinics.
