The Nurse Manager assesses, plans, coordinates, and evaluates the clinical and operational functions of one or more nursing units to ensure quality, cost effective health care is provided by an educated and competent staff. The Nurse Manager promotes a safe environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Nurse Manager maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served. The manager acts as a mentor and role model to teammates, improving professional practice and patient care.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works. BSN required, MSN preferred. Previous management experience required. Appropriate professional leadership certification required (within 2 years if not currently certified) or within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), for Health Care Provider from AHA required, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader
Range of motion within functional limits. Requires frequently: pushing 40 lbs.; pulling 80 lbs.; standing; walking; repetitive trunk rotation-standing; manual dexterity; both handedness (both hands must be used).
Requires near vision; far vision; hearing (requires hearing whispered voice).
Requires visual color discrimination; and visual depth perception.
Occasionally requires lifting 35 lbs. from floor to 53 in.; one handed carrying 15 lbs. Work kneeling; work squatting/crouching.
Near/far vision within normal range.
