Job Description


Lake Region Healthcare is in need of a Registered Dietitian to provide PTO coverage for full time dietitians. The dietitian will oversee the nutritional health of patients in the hospital as well as some outreach areas, which may include the outpatient Diabetes/MNT Education program, Cancer Care & Research Center, Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, Dialysis, a contracted Critical Access Hospital, and inpatient psychiatric services. Non-patient work may include nutritional analysis of menus and occasional public speaking or writing. The successful RD candidate will enjoy variety and flexibility in their work, and be a compassionate individual who is committed to helping patients improve their nutritional health by providing practical education and counseling about food choices, based on accepted standards. The RD will work closely with other members of the clinical multidisciplinary team, as well as his or her Nutrition Services co-workers.

Main responsibilities include:
Evaluate the dietary needs of patients
Create personalized nutrition plans that promote health and healing
Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and their caregivers
Communicate closely with kitchen staff about patients meal orders and preferences
Document in the electronic health record
Maintain HIPPA privacy standards

Other responsibilities may include:
Analyze menus for nutrient content
Help promote wellness in the department
Occasional public speaking and/or writing
Nutrition and therapeutic diet education for Nutrition Services staff
Assist in the Nutrition Services department if needed

The Clinical Dietitian reports to the Lead Dietitian.

Qualifications


Must be a Registered Dietitian. Must be licensed in Minnesota before scheduled to provide patient care. Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, decision making abilities, computer skills, and mathematical abilities. Must have working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding food safety and sanitation. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite softwares preferred. Visual acuity is needed for inspection of data, figures, computer terminals, and preparing, and reading written materials.

Shifts:
Shifts are 8am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Weekends: approximately 2 - 4 hours every fourth weekend. If desired, this dietitian may work additional weekends. Hours per pay period vary, as this position is scheduled when a full time dietitians takes PTO.
