Serves as a leader for preparing nursing staff to deliver quality nursing care with specific focus on Perioperative Services.
Plans, organizes, directs and oversees educational programs to meet the needs of Perioperative Services (Acute and Ambulatory OR's, ASU, PACU, Preadmissions and Sterile Processing) all locations including Gallipolis, Athens and Jackson. Responsible for orientation of new employees, annual mini labs, continuing education, and equipment (in-services). Maintains active communication among medical staff, nursing staff and interdepartmental staff and ensures competency of all Perioperative staff. Develops and implements policies and procedures according to AORN and JC standards and assures compliance with JC/CMS. Oversees quality assurance/quality initiatives. Maintains educational records of all staff. Designs and implements educational materials based on department needs assessment. Acts as a clinical resource and mentor/preceptor to staff within Perioperative Services.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure
Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio with current licensure.
Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
Minimum of five (5) years Operating Room experience.
Demonstrates technical competence and teaching skills in all surgical specialties
BLS, ACLS, PALS required
CNOR required/to be obtained within 6 months of employment
