Job Description

The Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) Manager supervises and manages the daily operations of the Stroke Program, and data collection and management; he/she directs the clinical and non-clinical staff involved in the coordination and delivery of care to stroke patients at the Boston Medical Center. He/she is responsible for directing and coordinating the different components of the program including management of CSC certification, policies and procedures, data maintenance, monitoring and regulatory and quality compliance, and required reporting to stroke registry and related regulatory agencies. The Coordinator reports directly to the Administrative Director of Neurology and indirectly to the Stroke Service Division Chief/Medical Director of the Stroke Center.Responsibilities

Manages the activities of the CSC, the inpatient Stroke Service, and the outpatient Stroke Clinic
Responsible for managing two Stroke Quality Assistant staff members, including interviewing, hiring, job training, annual performance reviews and professional development
Oversees quality data input from medical records. Prepares and submits quality measure reports, conducts error analysis, and facilitates required corrections
Directs, coordinates and delivers stroke education at the Boston Medical Center, and provides information to patients and families, health care providers, and community organizations to facilitate public education and awareness
Oversees and participates in community and partner outreach activities, including first responders
Liaisons with Get With The Guidelines stroke organizations in facilitating continued program development
Directs and coordinates service delivery within assigned departments
Provides administrative oversight of stroke team members and is the main administrative contact point for stroke within the organization
Collaborates with the CSC interdisciplinary team, Stroke Service physicians, fellows, residents, and members of the health care team to plan; organizes and delivers identified services to achieve desirable patient service and care outcomes
Collaborates with pre-hospital and post-hospital healthcare partners across the continuum of care
Reports to hospital Boards and Committees on quality measures, outcomes and initiatives
Interface with the Department of Public Health and Regulatory Compliance, including CDC/Coverdell Stroke Systems of Care Pilot, Massachusetts
Facilitate interdisciplinary decision making by influencing key stakeholders
Manages CSC activities pertinent to Joint Commission certification, and supervises the CSC preparation and ongoing readiness for certification visits and for accreditation by regulatory organizations
Recommends and implements required changes to processes and procedures to improve delivery of care
Participates in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for the Stroke Service
Facilitates monthly staff meetings and maintains minutes
Reviews methodologies, processes, and equipment; makes recommendations for changes and adjustments
