The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for managing all nursing operational aspects of the hospital. Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the hospital, the CNO provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure the hospital has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively administer the nursing operations of the hospital. Provide training, feedback, coaching, performance reviews and counseling to direct reports and perform all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Baptist Healths policies and applicable laws.
Education / Experience: Bachelors Degree in Nursing and eight (8) years of nurse management experience within the healthcare industry of which two (2) years must be in a senior management role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
License / Certification:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure through the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of universally and nationally accepted nursing guidelines and regulations.
Knowledge of the requirements and regulations outlined by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Knowledge of the regulations and standards set forth by the JCAHO and other federal and state regulatory bodies.
Knowledge of patient billing, health care financing, budgeting, business development and strategic planning.
