The Revenue Cycle Integration and charge capture Manager is responsible for overseeing, and managing the integration of new facilities clinical documentation, charge capture, and coding workflows into the existing operations and systems of Tufts Medical Center and the Physicians Organization. The Manager will work to implement new processes and training while maintaining productivity and minimizing disruption to revenue cycle workflow. Further, the position is responsible for monitoring mid-cycle performance and quality data, as well as for contributing to policy and training development.
Develops a deep understanding of both clinically driven revenue cycle, charge capture and coding processes.
Manages the integration of standardized middle revenue cycle workflows into existing management processes consistent with the organizations policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Serves as liaison between organization and Physicians, facilitating optimal communication between all stakeholders.
Ensures mid-cycle facility staff are adequately trained in the correct implementation of new workflows and are familiar with established KPI benchmarks.
Works closely with Departments to identify and remove duplicative or inefficient processes.
Becomes an expert in EHR functions and applications related to mid-cycle workflows and assists integrating facilities in identifying opportunities for EHR optimization.
Ensures physicians and facility staff receive appropriate training in the correct utilization of new/updated EHR systems or applications.
In collaboration with facility leadership, establishes performance objectives in areas such as physician query and response rates, charge entry timeliness, and coding accuracy and productivity that fall in line with organizational goals as well as national standards.
Monitors facility progress based on performance benchmarks and addresses issues as they arise; identifies and quantifies mid-cycle revenue leakage and works with facility leadership to implement solutions.
Provides careful oversight of middle revenue cycle processes that contribute to quality outcomes across the organization, including areas like clinical documentation, coding accuracy (e.g., by conducting periodic audits).
Oversees quality-related metrics as well as other reports generated using EHR data.
Provides regular reports to organization leadership regarding both quality and mid-cycle performance metrics.
Identifies opportunities to enhance performance; partners with leadership to execute improvement plans.
Assists in development of training opportunities to prepare clinicians, physicians, coders, and other relevant middle revenue cycle staff for any new functions or updated process flows they will be expected to follow.
Contributes to the development of middle revenue cycle policies to ensure optimal standardization of processes across organization.
Monitor and reconcile all Outpatient service revenue to capture total projected reimbursement.
Create, implement and maintain those processes that provide Facility a strong economic position in the healthcare community.
Create, implement and maintain nationally marketable audit and reimbursement programs
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Bachelors degree in Healthcare Management, Finance or related field required.
3+ years of revenue cycle operations experience, preferably in a multi-hospital environment.
3+ years of managerial experience in the coding, medical records, or health information management setting.
Experience with Epic or Cerner preferred.
General knowledge of the revenue cycle and how all aspects interrelate.
In-depth knowledge of middle revenue cycle processes, including HIM, clinical documentation, charge capture, CDM, and coding.
Excellent management and prioritization abilities.
Ability to learn and integrate new applications/software systems effectively and efficiently.
Demonstrated experience in data tracking and analysis, and establishing and monitoring standards and improvements.
Proven capability to motivate, collaborate, effect change, and promote teamwork.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
