Full time 40 hours per week. A member of the Surgical Services team who works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of the care of patients in Surgery and the performance of sterile processing duties.
Surgical Technologists (ST) are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients in a variety of settings. ST work under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. ST work under the supervision of a surgeon and a Registered Nurse to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions to maximize patient safety. ST possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physicians performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology.
National certification required.
Participates in required elective clinical education.
Membership in professional organization encouraged (Association of Surgical Technologists).
One year experience as Certified Surgical Technologist.
