Development of policy and procedures, QA programs and processes related to physics/dosimetry, collaborates with the RSO regarding radiation safety concerns, responsible for leadership and training of staff with regard to treatment planning systems, radioactive materials, and other medical equipment within the radiation therapy department: therapeutic applications of X-rays, gamma rays, electron and charged particle beams, neutrons and radiation from sealed radionuclide sources; equipment associated with their production, use, measurement and evaluation; quality images resulting from their production and use. Performs acceptance testing and commissioning of all new treatment equipment prior to clinical use. Collaborates with dosimetry and physicians in obtaining accurate and reproducible treatment plans for standard fractionated radiation, specialized hypo-fractionated procedure, brachytherapy and reviewing adaptive plans.
Master of Science or Doctoral Degree in Medical Physics. Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics (DABR) required. Five to ten years' clinical experience as a DABR Medical Physicist. Two or more years' supervisory experience preferred.
