Occupational Therapy Assistant (PRN)

This person is expected to treat patients under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist and will report to the Director of Rehab.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: General: Assure that patient treatments carried out according to the OT treatment plan and goals. Keep up to date on information affecting rehab services. Promote rehab services within the hospital and the community. Demonstrates values and behaviors according to Values Statement. Specific: The Occupational Therapist Assistant will perform treatments according to the plan of care and goals set by the Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapist Assistant will consult with medical professionals as needed to provide optimal health care to the patients. The Occupational Therapist Assistant must be knowledgeable of new laws and guidelines that affect Occupational Therapy. The Occupational Therapist Assistant should take an active role in the promotion of rehab services which may include presenting at hospital or community based events. The Occupational Therapist Assistant will complete documentation on the day services are provided. The Occupational Therapist Assistant will be responsible for determining when co-treatments with the Occupational Therapist are needed according to Iowa law. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General: The Occupational Therapist Assistant must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide quality patient care. Specific: Must have knowledge of didactic materials and skills necessary to provide patient treatment. Excellent communication skills will allow the best possible interaction with patients, staff members and the other members of the health care team. Education/Certification Requirements: General: Must be licensed in the state of Iowa. BLS certification Specific: The Occupational Therapist Assistant must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program. They must possess a current license in the state of Iowa and meet the continuing education requirements to maintain that license. Experience Requirements (mandatory and preferred): It is mandatory that clinical training has been successfully completed. It is preferred that the Occupational Therapist Assistant has 1 year of experience.
