The Chief NP will lead, supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Staff Allied Health Practitioners. In conjunction with the Chief of Anesthesia and Nurse Director, the Chief NP takes on the leadership role in the implementation of the goals of Faulkner Hospital and the department of CPE. Clinically, this individual is responsible for assisting attending physicians in the medical management of patients assigned to the AHP service and may also work in the context of an integrated team which includes residents, medical students, and attendings.

3+ years of relevant full-time experience as a NP in a hospital setting preferred.
2+ years demonstrated administrative and/or supervisory experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of Process Improvement Methodology
Knowledge of Epic electronic health record documentation preferred.
National certification within respective area of specialty preferred
Must have completed a graduate degree in an accredited program with a Masters in Nursing in a Nurse Practitioner Program.
Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts.
Maintains current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses.
Completes 100 hours of CME according to national and state regulations during each 2-year period of employment or other continuing education as required to maintain professional license.
Maintains current BLS/ACLS certification.
Staff adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. Standards
Overview of Skills
The Chief NP works closely with the physician and nursing staff to develop and coordinate a plan of care designed to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required. Knowledge of current literature and a commitment to continued learning are also required. Medical knowledge includes an understanding of pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, patient management, surgical principles, health promotion and disease prevention. The NP must demonstrate core knowledge about established and evolving biomedical and clinical sciences and the application of this knowledge to patient care in their area of practice. In addition, the Chief NP is expected to demonstrate an investigatory and analytic thinking approach to clinical situations.
The NP position on the team can be quite challenging, requiring both teamwork and individual initiative. NP work schedule may be subject to change based on patient care needs.
